Currently the technical head of Himalayan Weekenders, a large community of student trekkers, Sanket is an avid traveller and photographer. Over to him:
I’m addicted to travel: As a child living in the picturesque country of Nepal, I’ve always had a special place for the mountains in my heart. Having gone to trips with my parents when I was a kid, the travel bug was got me at a very young age. This, coupled with school trips in the scenic landscape of Nepal inspired me to explore more. The solace you get from travelling in the mountains is unparalleled. We redefine our perception about life whenever we travel to a beautiful destination.
My favourite spot on earth: If I ever get a chance, I would love to go to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal again. The mountains have a mysterious pull on you, one visit and you will surely be looking to come back for more. After returning to the hotel post the trek I looked at all the pictures of the Annapurna Base Camp and smiled to myself, for I knew that this was not my last visit here.
If you gave me a million…I’d make a long cherished dream come true. It’s a no-brainer for me, actually. I’ve been planning this trip for a long long time. I would do the “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Trip – Trip to Spain,” with my two best friends, exactly the same way they did.
My budget tips for new travellers: Managing travel expenses is quite a challenging thing but it can be made fairly simple provided we take care of few things. Rather than staying in a hotel, try to look for a hostel or local homestays, this will go easy on your pocket and save you more than a few bucks. While booking flights, book in advance and search for flights in incognito mode on your browser. Try hitchhiking when possible.
