Opened in Spring 2020, Villa Copenhagen is one of the hottest spots in the Danish capital. You’ll feel hygge here, says our Valencia-based contributor Geles Ribelles. Hygge, in case you didn’t know, is how the Danes describe their calm, relaxed state. Belonging to Preferred Hotels, Villa Copenhagen has restored the old Post and Telegraph building that dates back to 1912.
Composed of sustainable materials, the hotel combines neo-baroque architecture with Scandinavian design. Its 390 rooms are decorated in the style of grand Copenhagen residences, and the rooftop pool is heated with the surplus air from the heating. It has a sauna, various bars and restaurants, and a brasserie with freshly baked bread. The interior gardens induce relaxation and a vibrant lobby filters natural light through its huge glass dome.
Most of all, we like their mission statement: “We want to be the best hotel for the world by taking full responsibility for our environmental footprint.”
